What our members love most

Feb 14, 2024

What is your favourite thing about being a ForgetTheGym member? This is the question I asked on our community area on valentines day! Here is some of what they had to say...

  • I love that a couple of hundred women, many of whom I have never met, push me out the door by osmosis to go for a run or complete a challenge set by a positive and encouraging leadership team.
  •
  • I love being part of a group of like-minded people who will appreciate red-faced running photos and understand the joy of them! People who are always there in your phone when you need a boost or have a question. And Mary Jennings is the best coach and cheerleader anyone could ask for!!
  •
  • I love the Community, support, The accountability and the craic ! The range of options & the genuine soundness of the people involved.
  •
  • I love the monthly resets, encouraging me to put my goals on paper. The reflection and the planning are both very motivating, keeping me focused. I love the encouragement from all the members, inspiring me to get out the door and take in and appreciate my surroundings.
  •
  • I love the support and kindness of the community. The fact that people you might not have met in person will still clap you on the back and say well done or commiserate when life gets tough.
  •
  • I love the mix of small achievable activities to help towards a healthier lifestyle but also the support and planning to go for bigger goals if you want to. The community is so supportive and encouraging!
  •
  • Being part of such a supportive community. It can be hard to stay motivated when running by yourself so it's great to have a big gang of friends you've not met (yet!) cheering you on! 😁
  •
  • I Love reading about other peoples achievements little or big - they make me feel like I can do too!  Seeing how (extra) ordinary normal people do amazing runs and that you do not have to fit into a stereotypical runner to be able to do them.
  •
  • I love the comments from others, reading about their achievements. It really gives me an incentive to try. I also love the podcasts, hearing members stories. The challenges always give me a push. Also knowing that their are others out there who use running for their headspace, I'm not alone 😆
  •
  • While I don’t make it to that many meet-ups I never feel intimidated or shy to join in. Everyone is just so lovely. All the resources are great and very doable.
  •
  • I love that if I have any questions they are responded to really quickly and with different views and perspectives.
  •
  • FTG delivers on the exercise front, but the thing I love best is meeting so many amazing people and getting the opportunity to explore new places to run!
  •
  • As a more distant member (geographically), I don't find this a disadvantage, and do feel a part of the community. I love the videos, the sessions are doable and I feel I achieve, rather than thinking how bad at yoga/strength am i.
  •
  • I love the encouragement and collective motivation without pressure or judgement. And although I've missed recent meet-ups (that are fab), I ran every day on the lovely Isle of Bute - that defo wouldn't have happened without FTG osmosis 😀
  •
  • I love the camaraderie and community in the group where you say hello to others wearing the FTG T-shirt/hat/hoodie if you see them at parkrun or a race.
  •
  • I value my FTG membership most when I am least able to avail of all it has to offer because of other life stresses and distractions. Unlike so many other things, FTG membership never makes me feel stressed, anxious, guilty, or like I need to give up. It always feels supportive, and always offers a way back to yourself even after a lengthy break due to injury or illness.
  •
  • I love how FTG has really taught me to plan ahead if I want to run - basic but brilliant
  •
  • I love the trips away and when you meet someone at a race and they shout hello when they see the FTG t shirt
  •
  • I LOVE that even though I haven’t made it to a meet up I still feel part of something special! I love the Sunday reset and how it sets me up for the week ahead.

And thats just some of the first 20 responses.. there were lots more!
