All our plans for Summer 26

 

Finally, summer is here. We know how good fresh air is for us all year round, but getting outside sure has a special kind of magic when you don't need to pop on extra layers, hi vis and head out in the dark. It's offically picnic season, flowers in bloom and bedtime when its still daylight.

We love it - in fact - sunny summer days are the reason ForgetTheGym actually exists! Mary founded ForgetTheGym when she realised she hated going back into the corporate office at 2pm on sunny days and couldn't face another 30 years of that! You can read the story here.

1. Help you feel great running 

This is what we do best - take the pressure off comparison and expectation in running and make it so much easier so you to reach your goals. Whether you want to train for a race, run a certain distance or simply get out the door to clear your head, we take the hard work out of running and give you the skills and self belief to do the impossible.  

 

Our Feel Great Running workshops cover all you need in terms of technique and mindset and our Beach Classes for those of you who know you wont get out the door solo but will if we you are accountable to us! 

We now also have virtual courses to help all of you who we can't see in Dublin!

For the season thats in it, we also add in some lovely picnic runs, ice cream runs and really show you that running can be fun, and doesn't need to add to the stress in your days! 

 

 

2. Mind our Members 

We know that the ladies in our community have busy lives, responsiblities and its so easy to forget to look after ourselves - so we balance all that madness with gentle encouragement and support to get them outside and feel amazing. We are in their pocket (in our app) all summer long so whevever they live they can be with us even when they don't live near us.

3. Take to the mountains: 

 

Once school is out Aoife will lead 3 Thursday evening funruns to the Dublin Mountains. We never get to go here on the darker evenings, but July is the perfect time to see Dublin city from a different angle. Minimal traffic on the M50 and maximum daylight for the evenings. Take to the mountains.  Open to members and non members - the pace is easy, come for the chat and the scenery! 

 

 

4. Coach runners online

We now have 6 fully virtual coaching programmes for runners of all levels. The big change this summer is that you can tailor them around any race date you have you have. So any autumn half marathon, marathon, 10k or 5k, we give you the step by step coaching in a way that fits in with your life.

Our 4 week beginners course is the perfect intro to running too! So much more than a training plan, Mary guides you every step of the way with videos, lessons and personal support. No more overwhelm of what you think you should be doing. You just follow along week by week and the magic happens! You can choose the course for you here. 5. Escape to the Island:

Mary and Aoife head west in August to the stunning Bere Island again with a group of our members for a wonder retreat - whatever the weather - it is ireland after all :-) This is our 5th summer going! 

Great food, stunning scenery, wonderful company and a run or two along the way.  The perfect island escape. We are well sold out this year, but we will be back next year so get in touch if you want to join the waiting list! 

 

6. Prepare for Beaujolais :

 

Its not until November that we head to France for our vineyard adventure but the groundwork happens in the summer as we get organised and excited for our running and wine getaway. Everyone signed up will get a monthly update this summer to help you plan well so you can make the most of our annual trip to the running and wine festival

7. Keep the show on the road :

 

 

As well as looking after you all, we are practicing what we preach and this summer our 5 coaches will focus too on their summer goals and plans. Mary, Linda, Aoife, Dee and Bex are all sharing their progess in our community. From running trails to sea dips, meal planning to simply spending more time sitting on park benches, we have great intentions of making this our best summer yet!  

Despite attempting to live in the moment - we do also need to plan for the future and in September we will be back on the beach with new beach classes and events. We will be supporting all our runners and walkers taking part in long distance races, working with some new corporate clients and making sure by the time its 'back to school' we have something for everyone to get motivated and look forward to as the days get shorter and we put the long layers back on. But lets stay in summer for now! 

 

 

Create your best summer yet

We hope that wherever you are this summer you can get outside, move, meet others and feel amazing. Wherever you go this summer, be sure to get plenty fresh air (here's why) and remember that even just one run a week can make a difference (i've written about that here too). If you have looked at the pics on this blog post and it feels like something you would love to do, then decide to take the first step.

Don't put it off 

We REALLY want YOU to feel fabulous this summer by choosing fresh air, fitness, friendship and fun rather than just falling down in front of the TV each evening. We know it can be daunting to get going and it can be hard to join a new crew, but once you start you will wonder why you didnt get going sooner! If this is your nudge to stop making excuses, stop wasting time scrolling on your phone and finally time to make a little more time for YOU then we can help you.

We know you can do it, you have just got to make the next move. The busier you are, the more you need a little headspace!It's so hard to do it solo, so don't waste another summer thinking you will do all the health stuff that you promise yourself you said this time last year.

Enough procrastinating, its time to say, lets do it - together - either virtually or in person.
